We don’t mean to brag (OK, OK, we definitely DO mean to brag…), but our online hair course students are pretty awesome!

There’s over 1500 minutes of video tutorials to get through on our 6 and 12 month online hair course memberships, so every student course submission we get through is a little different. As with any creative venture, hairstyling is as unique to the individual hairstylist as a painting might be to an artist and we just love seeing everyone’s unique flare and what they choose to do with it.

This stunning up ‘do is an excellent example of how to incorporate an elegant rope twist into a classic bun for a more contemporary and unique feel. A perfect choice for a summer or destination bride who has opted for a Grecian style dress, to flatter beautiful bone structure and keep her cool on a hot wedding day!

The high ballerina bun is a must have style in any hairstylists repetoire, but sometimes without a few little extra touches, they can be quite severe. Here, Vania has chosen to give a little lift at the front to soften the edges, and the braid wrapped around the base of the bun gives that perfect final touch, without taking away from the main bulk!

This is a wonderful use of pin-curls and is a great style for brides with naturally thick, curly hair. Curly hair can be quite unruly and difficult to work with if you haven’t got your technique quite right, but here, Vania has used our online tutorials to the best of her and her model’s advantage! A fabulous style, full of volume and texture.

Creating a beautiful hairstyle is about so much more than putting the hair up correctly (although this is, of course, important too!) – it’s also about helping your client find a style that is perfect for them. Here, Vania has chosen a chic, vintage inspired style that helps bring out all of her model’s gorgeous features, and fits in just right with her makeup and look.

Here, Vania has created a gorgeous, relaxed curl for a lovely, bouncy finish and has used Pam’s ‘up and over’ technique to secure the twist at the back firmly, without the need for tons of grips and discomfort!

For those of you signing up for our bridal & red carpet hair courses, it can be tough to choose between our 2 and 4 day courses! Our 4 day courses, complete with a professional photoshoot on the final day, are becoming increasingly popular with our students and as such, we thought that you might like to know a bit more about why that is…

As with all of our courses, the 4 day course is suitable for ALL experience levels: from absolute beginner to a trained professional – there is something for everyone.

The way that we are able to work in this way is that our 4 day course only ever has a maximum of 6 students at a time, meaning that everyone can get as much or as little help as they need from Pam and her trusty assistants. Unlike our 2 day courses, on which Pam trains using a mix of live model demonstrations and hands on practice for the students using the highest quality training heads (and a live model for braiding practice!), students attending our 4 day course will get the chance to work on live models of their own.

Over the 4 days, you will work with models who have short, medium and long hair so that you get a chance to play with a variety of styles. Whilst of course, there are set styles that Pam will demonstrate on our 2 and 4 day courses (with step by step instructions), you will have the freedom to play around with these and make them your own.

It is important that you know the idea behind Pam’s teaching method is not that you come away having learned how to create a set number of styles, but that you learn the prepping, securing and finishing techniques to equip you with the knowledge to be able to create any style.

Our courses are designed to train people to feel happy and confident to produce all styles once they leave. As with all of our courses, if there are any particular styles that you would like to cover, you are more than welcome to bring in some images and Pam will teach you how to do that as well.

This trend first surfaced back in 2012 when we saw it on the runways of Erdem and Mary Katrantzou. It is back again this summer with thanks to Giambattista Valli who has his models make their way down the runway sporting the unique makeup look. Celebs have been keen to get in on the act with Pixie Lott uploading a shot of herself to her Instagram account rocking a thick black line above the crease of her eyelid.

 

Try the trend

Step one:

This look requires flawless make up with a good base than matches your natural skin tone. Use foundation or tinted moisturiser to give a porcelain look. You can fill in your brows if necessary to make them nice and even. The aim is to have your eyes as the focal point of the face.

Step two:

Now you can draw your line. You will find it easier to do this if you tilt your chin up and look downwards into your mirror. Doing this will help you to see your eye lids properly.

Step three:

Take hold of your eye pencil if you are after a bold look and trace a line once or twice across the centre of each eye lid. Make sure that you follow the shape of the crease while doing this. Try to keep the line as thin as possible; too wide a line will look like you have made a mistake. If you are after a more subtle approach then you can use a powder and blend it slightly with an eye shadow brush, this will give a more smokey effect.

Step four:

Sweep mascara over your lashes, giving one to two coats.

Step five:

Keep lips looking chic with either a nude or pale pink lipstick for a healthy glow.
