Trend Watch: Gilded Gold Eyes. Create Beautiful Makeup!

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Glittery gold gilded eyes were all over the ss15 catwalks and we have seen them popping up all over the place recently. The look is great for adding a touch of sparkle on a night out and is perfect for rocking at a festival. All skin tones can get away with wearing gold toned shades as they will warm up your complexion. Just remember that if you have dark, olive skin you should choose a dark pigmented shadow that is almost bronze. For those of you with fair skin a light yellow gold looks amazing.

Begin by prepping your eyelids with primer to give you a nice smooth surface and make sure that your makeup lasts.

Step two:

Wash over your lids with the shimmery brown shadow really focusing on the crease. Then blend the shadow up towards your brow bone.

Step three:

Take the metallic shadow and press it into the centre of your eyelids.

Step four:

With your fingertips apply the fine gold glitter pieces where you have just pressed on the metallic shadow as well as along the bottom lash line.

Step five:

With the loose gold glitter use a thin eyeliner brush to line your eyes with it. The brush will guarantee that your precision is spot on.

Step six:

To finish the look coat your lashes with two coats of black mascara. For even distribution zigzag the wand from left to right as you brush from the root to the tip of your lashes.

If you want to try this trend but would prefer a slightly more subtle look then you can choose a lighter more Champagne shade of eye shadow which will give you the same glow but will be more in keeping with the rest of your makeup look.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

January Jones Hair & Makeup Summer Style Tutorial

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We spotted January Jones at the FOX Programming Presentation and she was rocking our favourite summer look so far. Look no further if you would like to add a pop of colour to your makeup as January’s lip colour is perfect. Follow our step by step guide on how to recreate this fun summer style.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading text=”How To Get The Look” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Abril%20Fatface%3Aregular|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][dt_vc_list style=”1″ bullet_position=”top” dividers=”true”]

  • Step one: Begin by prepping your skin by moisturising your face and neck and then apply a primer.
  • Step two: Apply your foundation, which should closely match your skin tone, followed by concealer for any dark circles and blemishes.
  • Step three: Now you can move on to your eyes. Fill in your eyebrows using a similar shade of eye brow pencil or eye shadow. Well defined brows will help to give you a more polished finish. Select a nude coloured eye shadow and apply this as a base all over your eyelids up to the brow bone. Dramatic eyeliner is next so take a black gel liner and line your upper lashes creating a flick at the end. You can then work on thickening the line gradually to get the desired effect. This is much easier than trying to thin a too thick line. Curl your lashes and then take jet black volume mascara and brush on two coats.
  • Step four: For your cheeks go for a pale pink blusher and highlight the apples of your cheeks for a healthy glow before sweeping it up to your hair line.
  • Step five: Finish off the summer make up look with a bright pink long lasting lipstick or a lip gloss. If you prefer you can use a matte lipstick just make sure that you exfoliate and moisturise your lips first to get a good base.

Runway Fashion Makeup Trends: The Anti Cat Eye

Creating the perfect cat eye is always a bit of a struggle and a lot of practice is needed to make sure that both eyes are even. Luckily this year is all about the minimalist approach and the cat eye has a more subtle, paired down style. The anti cat eye is also a great way to introduce yourself to the typical cat eye style as it is a reverse of the look. The main differences are that you begin in the middle of the eye on the top eyelid and lower water line but you do not extend the line out past your eye like you do with the traditional cat eye. This look has gradually been developing over the last few seasons with variations ranging from soft, full lines to striking, defined lines. Read on to find out how to rock this trend in four easy to follow steps.

Try the trend

Step one:

Begin by moisturising and then apply your foundation and concealer as normal. You want to create a flawless looking, dewy base. Make sure that you have blended everything well, particularly your foundation around your jaw line. If you want to you can also apply a nude coloured eye shadow. Lightly pencil in your eyebrows if required but remember this look is supposed to be quite minimal.

Step two:

Take your black eye pencil or liquid eyeliner if you prefer, and draw a line from the centre of your upper eyelid towards the outer corner of your eye. Do the same on your lower lash line. You should have just created a V shape.

Step three:

Now you can fill in your waterline with eyeliner. If you are going for a more smokey effect then you can gently smudge the lines with a cotton bud.

Step four:

Finish off by curling your eyelashes with a curler and then sweep on two coats of volumising mascara.

Trend Watch: Beautiful Makeup Looks for 2015

Having been through seasons of au naturale looks when it comes to beauty, AW15 will come as a relief for many as make up takes a more grown up style. Here are our top five trends you should embrace next season – Take advantage of out £100 OFF our 2 day and £200 off our 4 day  makeup courses to learn how to perfect the look.

Luxe Beauty

At Herve Leger beauty took on a sophisticated finish with a flawless complexion and glowing cheeks to create a highly groomed look rather than making just one feature the focal point.

Amped up Lashes

For a while now models have walked the runway with clean, bare lashes but that all changed at Giambattista Valli where the makeup was all about creating doll like lashes. Easy to recreate yourself: just apply several coats of mascara to get the look that’s ideal for both day and evening wear.

Lip Gloss Makes a Comeback

Matte lips take a back seat as it’s all about the gloss next season. It didn’t just stay on the lips either as we also spotted it making its way onto cheeks and even eyebrows.

Blacken the Waterline

Black eyeliner will never go out of fashion and AW15 is the season we will be applying it to the waterline. For those that don’t know, this is the area next to your eye just above your lower lashes. You can either line the waterline and carry on the eye liner around the eye or as we saw at Victoria Beckham, smudge it downwards all the way through the lower lashes to give you a cool smokey eye look.

Berry Lips

Bright red lips have been replaced by rich berry shades and pale pinks. Wear these tones on cheeks and as eye shadows to pull the whole look together, rather than using the hue as a statement to highlight just the one feature.

How to wear baby blue eyeshadow: Red Carpet Makeup Looks

Blue eye shadow is set to be one of the biggest make up trends this spring and as usual we are keen to give any beauty trend a try, so it is time that we forget all about the 80s association.

Jennifer Lopez ditched her usual bronze eye makeup in favour of an icy baby blue shadow for the American idol series 14 finalist party. The 45 year old chose to wear a short collared white mini dress with gold floral embellishment paired with a white clutch and nude court shoes, but it was definitely her makeup which stole the show.

To rock this trend try lining the top and bottom lashes with your eye shadow of choice like JLo for a youthful look. To really bring out the ice queen in you make sure that you thinly line your upper lid with liquid eyeliner and apply a touch of mascara. The blue shadow should speak for itself. Your base should be flawless with just a hint of sparkly pink blusher to highlight your cheekbones.

If you want to try a look that is a bit more subtle then go for an eye shadow that is quite translucent. Blend it well along your lash line and only apply the one layer.

Really open up your eyes and make them pop by mixing a bit of white eye shadow with the blue. Don’t forget to dot a touch of the white in the inner corners of your eye. It is important that you do use the eyeliner and mascara as without them you run the risk of them getting lost in the blue, and potentially looking smaller.

If you just want to introduce a hint of the trend then why not give blue mascara a go? Just keep your eye makeup neutral.

Try the Trend: Smudged Eyeliner – Learn How To Create Beautiful Makeup Looks

We recently featured floating eyeliner in our try the trend series and our eyeliner looks would not be complete without covering smudged eyeliner. We have always been led to believe that eye liner should always be used to create a clean line, but you can create some great smokey effects if you embrace smudged eye liner. You are left with a lovely soft effect which can easily be worn during the day or amped up slightly for a night out.

You will need:

* Nude coloured eye shadow

* A black eye pencil

* Smudge brush or a cotton bud

* Mascara

Try the trend

Step one:

Start by creating your base with foundation or tinted moisturiser, the aim is to produce a flawless finish. Add a touch of pale pink blusher for a light flush of colour which will warm your complexion.

Step two:

Take your nude coloured eye shadow and sweep it all over your eyelid.

Step two:

With your black eye pencil line along your upper lash line. You do not have to worry about creating a perfect line as smudging will mask any mistakes.

Step three:

Select your smudge brush or cotton bud and begin at the inner corner of your eye. It is better to use short strokes as you gradually make your way across to the outer corner of your eye.

Step four:

Next, go back the other way working from the outer corner to the inner corner of your eye. When you come to the end take a look and repeat the process if necessary.

Step five:

Now you can work on the lower lash line. Take your eye pencil and line the entire lash line or ¾ of the way across if you prefer.

Step six:

Smudge this line in the same way that you worked across the upper lash line.

Try the trend: Floating eyeliner – Learn How To Create Beautiful Makeup Looks

This trend first surfaced back in 2012 when we saw it on the runways of Erdem and Mary Katrantzou. It is back again this summer with thanks to Giambattista Valli who has his models make their way down the runway sporting the unique makeup look. Celebs have been keen to get in on the act with Pixie Lott uploading a shot of herself to her Instagram account rocking a thick black line above the crease of her eyelid.

Try the trend

Step one:

This look requires flawless make up with a good base than matches your natural skin tone. Use foundation or tinted moisturiser to give a porcelain look. You can fill in your brows if necessary to make them nice and even. The aim is to have your eyes as the focal point of the face.

Step two:

Now you can draw your line. You will find it easier to do this if you tilt your chin up and look downwards into your mirror. Doing this will help you to see your eye lids properly.

Step three:

Take hold of your eye pencil if you are after a bold look and trace a line once or twice across the centre of each eye lid. Make sure that you follow the shape of the crease while doing this. Try to keep the line as thin as possible; too wide a line will look like you have made a mistake. If you are after a more subtle approach then you can use a powder and blend it slightly with an eye shadow brush, this will give a more smokey effect.

Step four:

Sweep mascara over your lashes, giving one to two coats.

Step five:

Keep lips looking chic with either a nude or pale pink lipstick for a healthy glow.

Lady Gaga Grammy Awards 2015 Glittery Eye Makeup Tutorial How-To

Glitter has been popping up more and more this season having featured on the catwalks, it is now making an appearance on celebrities. One star to get this look right is Lady Gaga who instead of showing up in one of her eccentric outfits, actually looked classy in a silver dress for the 2015 Grammy Awards. For her makeup she chose a glittery style smokey eye which is the easiest way to introduce this trend into your makeup, and avoids the risk of looking like a teenager experimenting with makeup for the first time!

We love how her glittery eyes were inspired by her custom made Brandon Maxwell gown, and this modern metallic smokey eye matching beautifully.

Get the look

Step one:

Take a range of metallic cream shadows with a glitter shimmer as they will blend wonderfully creating that smokey edge. First take a silvery cream eye colour and apply it all over your eye lid. With a very pale, almost white, cream colour accentuate the inner corners of your eyes.

Step two:

Next smudge a very dark, almost black, cream into the outer corners of your eye lids and along the lash line to create some depth.

Step three:

Now you can take your favourite black eyeliner and apply it all around the eyes. Make sure that you blend it either gently with your finger or with a cotton bud so that you are not left with any harsh lines.

Step four:

Finish off by curling your eyelashes and applying two coats of volumising mascara.

Once you have mastered a basic glitter smokey eye you can then look to becoming a bit more adventurous using different coloured glitters. How about just using glitter as an accent. Create a standard smokey eye look but apply a thin line of glitter eye liner under your lower lashes for a stand out evening wear look.

Try the Trend: Purple Eyeshadow – Create Beautiful Makeup

Many of us shy away from wearing purple eye shadow as we often associate it with teenagers when they first start experimenting with makeup, but this trend is actually surprisingly wearable. For a girlie look go for a pale pastel shade, for something a bit more glamorous try dark and shimmery, and if you just want to go all out quirky then look to bold and bright.

Here are some top tips for rocking the trend

Keep foundation light

Apply your foundation lightly, or wear a tinted moisturiser, and keep the rest of your makeup minimal to keep your look sophisticated rather than kooky. Also remember to just apply eye shadow to you upper lid as under your lower lashes will just make it look like you got into a fight.

Choose a single tone

There are some eye shadow colours which are just supposed to be layered up and blended, but purple is not one of them. If you are going to try the trend then just opt for the one eye shadow colour.

Pick a shade which will accentuate your eyes

For brown eyes

If you have brown eyes then go for a purple eye shadow which has warmer tones as the extra warmth will really help to make your eyes pop.

For blue eyes

Now if you have blue eyes try pairing up a purple which has cooler tones. A purple which has grey undertones will work really well, and should be a great match for your skin tone.

For green eyes

If you have green peepers you can go for something a little bolder. Green eyes look stunning with a really deep shade of purple; just think of dark aubergine shades which will help you to create a classy and elegant effect.
