Create Beautiful Hair Must-Have Party Hairstyles for 2018
Everyone wants enter the new year looking amazing, starting as they mean to go on, so it’s down to you to know the hottest hair and makeup styles on the circuit that your clients are bound to love.
There are certain hair and makeup looks that just never go out of fashion: beautiful braids, a glamorous bouncy blow-dry and Hollywood waves are ones that come to mind. It’s essential to have these timeless looks perfected so that you’ll never get caught out, but it’s equally important to know what’s on trend and how to create it, so that you can both recommend cutting edge styles and also accommodate when you’re asked to do them.
The catwalks and red carpet events are always the Create Beautiful Hair go-to places for the most desirable styles of the year and we’ve had loads of fantastic ones during 2017 and lots more that are sticking around and coming to the forefront for 2018.
Here are a few of our favourite party hair and makeup looks for 2018 with some expert tips on how to get them right:
Curls are a big deal right now and those blessed with a natural head of corkscrew locks are envied by many. We’re talking huge, voluminous, sexy curls that really make a statement here – go big or go home!
You can’t get a better accessory for any outfit than incredible curls. If you’re working with someone who has natural curls that you’re making the most of, the key is hydration and definition to combat frizz and leave those curls looking lush. Pam loves TIGI Curlesque for enhancing natural curls and waves and leaving them with a touchable finish. She also has a secret weapon for super curly hair: Boots Curl Crème. It’s only £1.99 but this unassuming pot of gloop gives great texture and hold.
For your clients without natural curls, Babyliss Heated Rollers are Pam’s favourite curling tool (we use these on all Create Beautiful Hair courses) and Diva curl wands for tighter curls. Set the hair with plenty of Elnett hairspray, but use the ‘Professional’ type that you can buy from Salon Services as the end result is far less wet and crispy.
The slicked back look is an uber-cool way of styling shorter hair, particularly bobs. It’s the perfect way to stand out in a crowd whilst looking totally chic and sophisticated. It’s a brave one to try, but it’s well worth it.
Start by spritzing damp hair with your favourite texturizing spray and the blowdry the hair back to get it wanting to sit in that direction. Make sure that you get your boar bristle brush under the hair, lifting it up at the roots though for some volume, as you don’t want it completely flat.
Smooth back as you blow dry and then pin the sides in place, keeping the volume on top. Use your flat iron to straighten the hair down the back and then back-comb on top for more padding and mold into shape with your fine tooth comb. Finish with a texture paste a strong hold hairspray.
We love all braids here at Create Beautiful Hair, so much that we’ve dedicated a whole 1 Day Braiding course to teaching you how to create all of our favourites! So the idea of having your favourite braided style amped up with some sparkle is just heaven.
Whatever braid you’re helping your client rock, even if it’s just as simple as a fanned out Dutch plait or bubble braid, add a little sparkle to your braids with some subtle, sparkly thread.
Stock up on a variety of colours from a craft shop and then weave it through the braid as you go. It’s so easy, but just this tiny quirk can make all the difference and bring something very basic to life.
